…and I am scared shitless!
Ok, I’ll try to curse less, but I’m scared regardless.
I should be happy, rejoicing even.
Instead, I’m anxious as hell.
A bad thing I must confess, but a motivating factor all the same.
Feel the fear and do it anyway,
says Susan Jeffers, author of Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway.
But why? Why in heaven’s sake am I scared?
See, I used to think, or rather believe, I am invincible like Captain Fantastic.
I believed ranking first in Google was something I could hack in my sleep.
Boy, oh boy, was I wrong.
A short hiatus from blogging saw my Google rankings drop hard.
Yep, like a lead weight through water.
If this doesn’t scare you as an online business owner, I don’t know what will.
Here’s the deal.
I have been creating effective web content for about seven months now.
Looking at my stats, I’ve uploaded about 12.95 gigabytes of web content.
This is about thirteen million kilobytes of effective web content so far!
Not bad. Not bad at all.
Still, a short blogging break saw my SEO rankings drop.
Crash and burn like there was nothing else to do.
At the beginning of this post, I said I should be rejoicing.
That’s right.
My rankings plummeting like Icarus was quite an eye-opener.
Fear is a very, very bad thing.
But if you were in my shoes, wouldn’t you tremble to the tooth if 12.95GB of:
- SEO content,
- image SEO,
- blog posts,
- and a ton of effective web content doesn’t guarantee an all-time #1 position in Google?
You would, especially if you’ve been at it for seven months or more.
Of course, there are others out here with a lot more effective web content.
And polished SEO techniques you can almost see your reflection 🙂
But this is not us.
At least, not yet.
We are beginners, remember?
And if you have a lot more SEO content than, say, a typical beginner, stay.
Stick around for the effective web content lessons I learned while away.
What I Learned about Effective Web Content
No more unplanned breaks.
Taking a long break from creating SEO content is why I am writing this post.
I gladly took a break to sort out a few things in my personal life.
It was abrupt and unplanned.
Meaning I had zero SEO articles scheduled in my content calendar.
For weeks, I did not upload a single line of web content to this blog.
And Google didn’t waste time smacking me upside the face.
The lost SEO rankings came as a much-needed reminder.
Most people become complacent after ranking first in Google.
We bask in the wins and, unfortunately, neglect content creation.
As a result, ranking high (and consistently) leaves through the front door.
Never to return until you get your house in order.
And this is because the Internet is like a battlefield.
The competition is cutthroat, and things happen really fast.
Faster than we all care to admit.
But it’s the absolute truth.
The web is a fast-paced environment, and any slacking will have you weeping out in the cold.
So, even with 12.95 GB of web content, I still got in trouble with good old Google for neglecting the blog.
It was a wake-up call.
The lesson?
Next time I decide to take a break, I will ensure I have enough SEO content lined up to cover my time away.
This is the only way to guarantee #1 ranking for my desired keywords, including:
- creating effective web content,
- latest SEO techniques (and trends),
- and effective web content, among others.
What I Learned about Image SEO
Image SEO is a little-known goldmine for better search ranking.
Your fresh SEO content and consistent blog updates will keep Google bots happy.
Throw in some image SEO magic, and you’ll cement the relationship between Google and your website.
I’ve tried image SEO in the past, and can assure you it’s a great way to solidify your search rankings.
A while ago, before the break, I deleted some old images to create room for newer ones with better image SEO.
Only to take the unplanned break a few days later before I could upload the new images.
For weeks, my blog didn’t have the images that had helped me rank on Google Image Search.
Unbeknownst to me, I was no longer enjoying the SEO benefits of the (now missing) images.
The result?
My SEO rankings in Google came crashing down.
My once effective web content suffered so much due to the missing images.
When I discovered this, I was distraught.
What I Learned about Blogging…
…and guest blogging.
For a while now, I haven’t had any posts published on another blog.
My impromptu break did not make this any better.
I did not post any “effective web content” articles on any blog out there because – hiatus.
It’s sad, really.
And because my SEO rankings came tumbling down…
…my traffic almost dried up because guest blogging is very much like blogging on your own website.
If you don’t guest blog regularly, your SEO rankings and traffic will suffer.
It’s true.
I discovered this first-hand with my own blog.
I have also seen blogs fall from the first page of Google because they stopped posting regularly.
Excuses range from:
- “We have enough content for now,” (This one makes me chuckle all the time. Enough content? Really?)
- “The marketing team is focusing resources elsewhere,” (As opposed to content? Seriously?)
- “I’m not sure SEO is working for us,” (This is common with impatient folk who expect immediate results from SEO)
- To “we need more research” and so on.
Confessions, confessions, confessions. That you don’t know what you’re doing.
Or sorry excuses that will get you nowhere.

Create More SEO Content
Creating smarter website contentbegins with mastering the art of crafting effective SEO content.
Because you need lots of website traffic, and effective SEO content offers just this.
12.95GB of effective web content wasn’t enough for the weeks I went without posting.
How far do you think your few SEO articles will go? Be honest with yourself.
Not far, right?
You need plenty of effective website content and SEO blog posts to rank in Google, Bing, and other search engines.
I know 12.95GB of web content sounds like a lot, but I’m not stopping there.
The more SEO content I create, the better the organic rankings in Google. It is not rocket science.
You can pay to appear in Google sponsored ads, but guess what, no one can buy better placement in search results.
Besides, you want relevant organic search trafficyou can channel to your email list.
Then nurture and convert the leads into loyal repeat customers.
The kind of clients who stick with you for years.
So, what do I plan to do?
Armed with the SEO sword that’s lots of research, I will slay the dragon that’s poor Google search rankings.
I will create highly effective and SEO-ready website content that makes Google bots dizzy.
I will educate myself some more on the art (and science?) of creating effective SEO content and then – create a lot more content.
Most people make the mistake of stopping at the learning stage.
To boost content quantity, I might consider adding a second post midweek. This is a maybe, not a promise set in stone.
In addition, I will increase the length and quality of my future articles.
I will experiment with both methods and stick to what delivers most value for you.
Our regular posts and the email newsletter won’t change.
Instead, I will endeavor to make both more value-packed.
If you haven’t subscribed, you risk missing out on amazing web content tips every week.

Improve Image SEO/Video SEO
I am reconstructing my image SEO from the ground up.
I’ll add more relevant images to my website and edit existing ones for better SEO.
This means reducing sizes and optimizing each image for mobile devices and faster page speeds.
For this, I am considering installing a WordPress image optimization plugin.
Might you have any image plugin in mind? Let us hear it in the comments.
In addition, I’ll ensure each alt tag has my most relevant keywords.
I am talking about terms like “creating effective web content,” “effective web content,” “latest SEO techniques,” and blah blah.
Basically, all the terms I wanna rank on the first page of Google.
Then, I will descend on YouTube and grab a few valuable videos.
I will optimize the same to rank well for my primary keywords and then share the results with you.
I expect to see my SEO rankings rise again.
Why YouTube?
At the moment, I don’t have videos of my own, but this isn’t a stumbling block.
Since I haven’t created any videos yet, I will share clips from other creators within the niche.
Of course, I will give proper credit where it’s due.
And don’t worry, none of you will be whore-d out in the process.
Lastly, I’ll ensure the quality is up to par, and the videos provide valuable information.
I have your back as always. I promise.
Guest Blogging Some More
I will revive my dormant guest blog accounts and establish new connections.
Starting is as simple as searching “WordPress write for us” on Google.
For your guest blogging needs, replace “WordPress” with your topic or niche.
For example, “health write for us,” or “law write for us.” You get the drift.
Then I’ll start creating more effective web content for multiple blogs out here.
All in a bid to share the latest SEO techniques and trends with readers who need this information.
The guest blog posts will surely contain my primary keywords to remain relevant to you and Google.
I promise to maintain high standards; no guest blogging on spammy, low-authority blogs.
Also, all the guest blogs will be top-quality stuff I would publish on this very blog.
After going at it for a while (these things take time), we will collect the data, compare results, and dissect findings together.
What Should You Do?
Nothing!
I’m kidding.
You play a small part.
Emulate my approach to improve your SEO rankings in Google and drive more traffic to your website.
Take and run with the suggestions in this post and let us connect in a few weeks.
Experiment and optimize. Rinse and repeat.
Then optimize some more until you achieve the desired result – the numero uno position in Google for your keywords.
Your efforts will surely pay off.
That will be all.
